It’s not easy to stay active under lockdown. Where your normal exercise regime would revolve around heading off to the gym to work on the weights and other equipment, now you’re stuck at home. Take a look at how you can make the most of your time and still keep fit and active, rather than succumb to being a couch potato and binging Netflix.
Take the dog for a walk
We may be under lockdown, but we’re still allowed outside once a day to exercise, if done at a safe social distance from others. Why not take advantage of your beloved pooch and take them for a walk or a run? It’s the perfect reason to get out in the fresh air for a little time while still being respectful of the restrictions now in place. Even if you haven’t got a dog, a daily walk or run will help you to stay active until you can get back in the gym.
Exercise while watching tv
Now that you’ve got more time on your hands to catch up on all those shows you’ve always wanted to watch, it doesn’t mean you have to do so while sitting still. Why not cram in some exercises in front of the tv? Not only will you be catching up on your must-watch shows, you’ll be staying fit and healthy while doing so, rather than binging on your snack stockpile.
Just because you can’t make it to the gym doesn’t mean you have to give up on weight training. Look around your home and what you’ve got to hand, then improvise on what you can feasibly use to get lifting from the comfort of your own home. Fill up your Matrix water jug and do some bicep curls, fill a suitcase to use for some lifts, or even get lifting that tub of Whey Matrix protein powder. No matter what you find to use, every little thing will help you stay on top of your gains.
Even if you don’t want to be lifting water jugs, the key thing to staying fit and active is to keep moving. If you’re able to work from home make sure to get up and walk around for a few minutes throughout the day away from your computer.
Got a garden? You’ve got the perfect excuse to be staying active. Gardening may be a little more relaxed than your gym workout, but it’s a great wat to keep moving throughout the day. Plus your garden will look great come summertime to boot! Not got a garden? No need to worry. Even doing general household chores like cleaning or DIY projects you’ve had put on hold will help you to stay active.
